Oh well, all good things must come to an end - and today we released the (native) baby starlings we helped to maturity.
Although it was a wrench it was great to see them go. The first one circled the house twice before vanishing form sight. The last 2 we had to physically remove from their flight.
Roger put rings on them, in the hope that we might see them again one day.
If you ever see a Starling with a pink ring on it's leg........
Kenny - Thanks for letting Roger share this with you earlier today ;)

hi laura/roger
i felt priveleged roger sharing it with me today i think i would have shed a tear when they went if i could have managed to let them go anyway!but as you say roger they are back where they belong and as i said earlier they just might come back one day to pay you a visit.....at least they have a life now as a lot of birds in that situation may have died i am sure they will be all happy mate!

Hi folks
I have another British Starling, from the same location as the last. This one is a bit younger and is therefore more demanding...but it's cute :-P
This will be it's first night, I hope it makes it.

Hi Laura and Roger,
You did a great job in getting this bird through it's first night, well done to you both, it isn't always easy.;-)
But I'm sorry that despite your best efforts this one didn't make it,:-( shock in some youngsters is something that there is no cure available.:|
In this case numbers count, please try to remember the fact that you managed to save four birds against the one that you lost!
Paul.
