hi all
i thought this was worthy of a place as i think its amusing

Turkey mating season is becoming quite the problem for Madison Police. The birds have been found wandering in residential areas and one recently broke into someone's home. Police say they had to taser a turkey -- not once, but twice to get it under control.
This case happened in a very dense, residential area on Madison's west side, and it started out pretty seriously. Police responded to a potential burglary, with a broken front window. Madison Police Public Information Officer Mike Hanson said once inside, the officers had no idea what they were getting themselves into.
"As they were going down the hallway towards the kitchen area, they heard a noise and out came this wild turkey flying at them." Hanson said.
A wild turkey had made it's way through the front window of a west side home. Once inside, it partied by itself - breaking light fixtures and poking holes in the wall with it's beak. Clearly this is no match for Madison Police, right? Well, after using furniture as barriers, and a glass of water -- all to get get the turkey outside -- police were forced to taser the bird, twice. Madison police say this isn't the first time a turkey has ruffled it's feathers with homeowners -- even in residential areas. Police think mating season has a lot to do with these home invasions.
"The turkey was in heat," Hanson said. "...and saw it's reflection in the window and maybe thought it was another turkey and flew like superman or superturkey right into the window."
After the second shock, police were finally able to get their bird out of the home. As for the turkey's condition, police say once they got it outside, it just flew away and has never been heard of since.
Interestingly enough, we spoke with a couple residents in that neighborhood and they say they have seen turkeys there before, which is really surprising considering it's a pretty populated area.
In all seriousness, police say the homeowner did the right thing and called police when they noticed the broken window. They say you should always call police if you notice something suspicious -- and never assume that a broken window means there's a turkey inside your home.
