Hi
Has anyone kept any Harlequin Quail before? I understand they are more likely to sit on their eggs unlike the CPQ.

hi,
i haven't kept these quail before, but the quailsfromwalse website might be a good place to look or ask if you e-mail them.

as for CPQ sitting their eggs, if we ever meet up in the future at a birds sale then i'll bring a pair of parent reared birds along as there's no reason for them not to sit, 2 of my pairs are nesting now, the one pair was sitting but has decided to play silly buggers again and move nest site

Hi Chris
I have bred CPQ before but the hen that managed it died last year......whilst sat on eggs!!!
My new hen just leaves eggs laying around....but I must say they are nice boiled and added to salad!
Now I have 2 aviarys' I thought I would give Harlequin a go, so long as they are not too noisy!
Thanks for your kind offer, I may yet take you up on it. :D

Hello Laura,
I have kept Harlequins in the past & I found their requirements mirrored that of CPQ, the only downfall I found with them was the other Birds (including Japanese Waxwings) were wary to come to the ground, I assume this was due to the Harlequins I had may have been agressive when I wasn't around?? :?
This is just my experience & others may say different, but for the sake of a successfull breeding season with you other Birds I would suggest you look around for another Parent reared hen CPQ.
