Hi one and all.
Talking to a friend on line today he said that he has 11 scarlet headed weaver also said he thought they were bishops weavers. I have ask for a pic of them to try and find out what they are . No good for most members as they are in Canada there are 4 cocks and 7 hens not sure at present if they are related.
Now question is if I get them, can they be kept together and in what size flight do I need ? and how hardy are they? I have been told they will not be expencive to buy as he wants rid of them but have not been given price yet.
Are they any more problem that any other bird,
Allan

Hi Allan,

I wish I could answer your question; unfortunately I have had no experience with Red-Headed/Scarlet Headed Weavers.

If no-one can help you here I would suggest you contact David Holmes on FF3.

Sounds too good an opportunity to miss though. ;)

Hi Allan,

i definately wouldn't pass up the opportunity. i can't say as i've heard of them, although i reckon they might be quelea, i also reckon i'm wrong:lol:

i can't imagine that they'd be much different to keep than your bishops, however you might do better keeping them separate to improve breeding sucess.

Chris;)

Hello Alan,

Obviously a photo will help identify the Birds, but as Laura and Chris have said, regardless of the Species it does sound like a great opportunity, if you do decide to buy them they would do better in an aviary to themselves, but I would suggest leaving two of the cocks out of the colony.

If you could provide an aviary measuring about 6ft x 6ft x 6ft this should be large enough to house and breed them, if possible provide cover for nest building in the form of growing Plants, if not then place bushy Conifer branches for them to build in and provide Livefood during the breeding season.
