Hi Kenny,
Depending on the number available and the shipping costs (if it was possible to ship them), then I think the White Crested Laughing Thrushes would be a steal at that price mate, but the rest? Mind you Chris might think the Golden Weavers are worth that kind of money soon if he doesn't find any hens at Stafford?
By the way Ken, is this American or Australian Dollars??
Paul.

Hi Paul,
it would be american dollars as the Australians don't have any African Golden Weavers in the country. hopefully i can sort that problem out when i emmigrate:-P

Hi Paul
yes, there is a small chance i may not be going anywhere:-P but then again i've got 7 years to look for a loophole in Aussie law that lets me take em with me, maybe i can class em as family  very long distant relavites from 100,000,000 million years ago however they evolved differently ever since:lol:

Hi Chris,
It would be very sad if you were to leave the UK mate, but if there is anyone I know that could find a loophole in any Law then it would have to be you,:D you are so sharp Chris that every time I changed gear in the car on Sunday up to, and on the way back from Stafford I cut my left arm.
By the way, you wouldn't happen to be a Red Dwarf fan would you?
Your only chance of entering Australia with your Birds could only lay in the hands of an Australian Government official who also happens to be a huge fan of Cat, played by Danny John-Jules who was a descendant of David Listers Pet Cat in Red Dwarf.

Hi Chris,
No worries about my left arm it's healed nicely now.
As for the Red Dwarf connection, as you said your Birds are very distant relatives that evolved very differently over the years, and as I mentioned the Cat people in Red Dwarf evolved from Listers Cat over many years which resulted in Danny-John Jules character Cat.
Please ignore me as everyone else does mate,:D it was a very sad connection that only my little brain could come up with.

Hi Ken,
i don't want to put a downer on things but it is only a 'i might not be leaving' and that's all down to whether i can take my birds with me or not. either way, it's 7 years away yet so i'll be around for a long time, and if i do emmigrate then i'll still post on this site as normal, only difference is daytime over there will be nightime over here. not that that's a bad thing as it means i'll get to be on at the same time as paul at 2 o clock in the morning:lol:
Chris;)

hi nikki
Well how is the price of canarys down your end of the world. I am trying to get together a collection of old variety canaries to start breeding here in Canada and do you think I can .. Answer NO. non avalible tried contacting the OVCA there email is more like snail mail as they have not answered as yet have tried and have resent my last message hope they might get with it this time. They are in Texas as well as you Houston I think??.
May consider tryinga different breed then all that I need will be avalible. Nice new breeding rooms and no singing in it yet.

Hi Allan,
I dont have canaries, so I am not sure about the various breeds. I do know that I can get a decent discount, as a breeder, from one place. Normally, goulds, for example, are about 75-100 in Austin for a normal. I pay 60 without any additional tax. I believe their canaries start at 60 and top out at 80 retail, so Im not sure of what discount they would give. As I said, I dont know alot about canaries, so I'm not sure what kind they are.
This place also ships birds...but I'm not sure what their policy is. I couldnt find anything on OCVA. If youll post their contact info, I can try to help.

hi all
i have noticed again this rise in prices that is appearing gradually in the c&a and other place where you look for birds that you want to outcross for fresh breeding stock.i have also noticed that this is not the first time this has happened when i first started breeding javas in the early 80s a fawn java proven pair was selling then for £50 a pair (one of the reasons why my shed was emptied) but the price in the 2000s started to plummet and i myself have taken advantage of this by one buying a fantastic breeding pair of red eyed white javas for £12 but again the price has started to rise i know there is an import ban but these birds are readily avaliable as bred in this country it is only the large bird retailers that are taking advantage of the novice not knowing that very thing they just see them as a foreign bird which looks nice.i think we should have something that i was talking to paul about earlier to stop this exploitation for people who have got to the end of breeding with their existing stock.there should be a website or column in c&a for people to exchange one bird for another like one red bishop cock for another to put a new bloodline into their stock they could also as the pigeon men do lend out a cock bird for stud services and having a pick of the clutch as payment so you get your original bird back plus another bird which you would obviously have to pair to an unrelated bird or accept another type of bird altogether in payment if someone has in daves case spare hens that you cant find a cock for i think this idea would be ideal.but how to organise it is beyond me
