Hello all,

Despite the promises from a friend regarding the Red Crested Finch hen I need for this season, things have gone very wrong to the point that I am willing to pay huge money for the hen Bird I need.

If someone can deliver a hen Red Crested Finch to the Stafford Show, then please let me know.

Paul.;)

Hi Matthew,

Does it really show how badly I want this Bird? If I manage to get one for this price I think I may set a record for the most expensive Red Crested Finch in the UK.

At this rate I might even have to offer a swap of a true pair of Pekin Robins for a hen Red Crest.

Do you know who the FBF member was who bred the Red Crests in 2004? If you do could you please send me a PM with their name?

hello Paul

unfortunitly not, i have only been sent the breeding stat records, i would suggest you may get in contact with Don, as he may be able to help with knowing some one. or you good allus contact Reuben Girling who is the breeding registrar (don't now his number)

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for that mate, obviously I have Don's phone number and the contacts for Reuben Girling were in this weeks C&A.

I do have someone from FF3 who has told me he may be able to get hold of the CB Red Crests that are on the Continent???
These Birds are going to be very close to the price I'm offering once landed in the UK, but I'm worrying that time is running out very fast regarding bringing Birds here from the Continent, damn those Turkeys.

Hi mate,

I don't know if she's worth it yet, I haven't collected her yet.
It's going to be quite a late night for me and her tonight, I have to meet Kevin Paul on route to his place in Penzance at around 10pm.

The price of the Bird is very cheap mate, £100.

Hi Matthew,

Your right it will hurt mate, but I didn't know there were mornings on days that start with S.

And I also know what you mean when you say what you would prefer, fags and booze, or a hen Red Crest, did you go for the same as I did, fags, booze and a hen Red Crest?

Hi Matthew and Laura,

So after putting fuel in the tank, driving all that way (in a very calm and leisurely manner:roll:) and looking at the choice of three hen Red Crests, I didn't come back with one of them.:(

I came back with two!!

I paid £100 for one hen, and £50 for another with a slightly damaged wing.

I was quite concerned that neither of them fed or drank when I put the interior light on in the car before starting back for home, or when I did the same after stopping at a service station part way through the journey.
But when I arrived home the hen with the damaged wing immediately started to bounce around the cage with her crest raised and calling, while the other hen still looked quite miserable.
So after only a couple of minutes of arriving home I set up another cage with Foreign Finch, Canary and British Finch mix, Insectile, Mealworms and Waxworms, as soon as they were seperated the other Bird came to life calling, feeding and drinking.

After a couple of days in the conservatory I will put them both in the Birdroom where they can enjoy a well needed bath or two, tomorrow I will be asking a friend if the offer of a cock Red Crest, again with a slightly twisted wing, is still on offer for free (if not then I would glady offer a tenner:D ).

Kevin Paul is a LEGEND and he is currently my most favourite geezer on the whole Planet!!

Paul.

Hello all,

Matthew,

The pair of them have settled well despite their very long journey, they are bouncing from perch to perch, feeding, drinking, bathing, preening and calling, I will take them down to the Birdroom tomorrow.:-D

Laura,

Obviously I wanted one of the undamaged £100 hens, but I had almost made my mind up to buy the Bird with the slightly twisted wing as well while I was driving to the meeting point, so when I saw her my mind was made up.
It has turned out that the Bird with the twisted wing is the better of the two regarding size and colour too.

Chris,

I was alright this time mate, you know being south of the border and all that, so I found my way quite easily, unlike trying to find your place.

I will ask one of my Teachers Laura or my Dad to show me how to post pictures one day and I will post pictures of everything I have.
As you know quite well by now, don't hold your breath.

Paul.

hi paul
i am really pleased for you mate at last you got the red crest that you were after but getting 2 would be a bonus for you mate.i am sorry i have not been on much of late but as i write this i have just kissed the builder goodbye after wrecking my house for a fortnight he has put it back together and bogged off today,so i should be on more now as i have been grabbing spare moments in between dodging flying plaster.but back to more serious matters i am really pleased for you mate and i hope they dont dissapoint in the mating department i will also look forward to a picture of them both when you work it out

Hi Ken,

Thanks mate, you will never know how over the moon I am to get hold of these two, it could be compared to that saying as happy as Dog with two ?????.

It's good to know you will back on here more often mate, and to know that there are people who forge close relationships with their builders these days, it would have been good enough just to pay him for the work he has done for you, but he must have made a damn good job of it for you to give him a kiss as well!!

Thanks again Ken, I hope they wont dissapoint when it comes to breeding too, but the cock that will paired to the hen with the twisted wing might fall off.:D

I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how.

Paul.:D
