Hi all
I managed to get out with my camera last weekend to the New Forest. I have been trying for years to capture a Nuthatch but my camera was always too slow.
The DSLR really is the way forward for bird photography, what do you think? Look at the size of those feet!!!

Hi Laura,
Great shot mate, Nuthatches are one of my favourite British Birds:D, apparently they are the only Family of Birds that can walk headfirst down a tree.

The weekend is nearly at an end again  My chance for a lay-in, but what do I do? Get up at 6.30am to make sure I see the sun rise on a frost morning down by the river......was it worth it?.....I think so :D

coming from a cat hater, that kitten looks very cute, and innocent, if only they stayed that way.

Hi Matthew all I can say in regards to cats is, none of mine bother the birds as they grow up around them, they keep other cats out of the garden and away from the flights, I also used to hate cats, other peoples as I have lost a fare few birds over the years due to cats on the mesh etc. however since having my own cats I have not had any problems in this area.

hi karl great pictures buddy, iused to have cats of my own aswell and it is curiously funny that they do not bother with the birds in the flights but they do chase other cats out of the garden:lol:

Hi Kenny
I hadn't heard of him before, but I have taken a look at some of his shots on the web and I particularly like his rural scenes.
I have some A3 sized photos stored away that I had developed from plates (very old negatives). There is one of a horse plowing a field, an old farmhouse, some countryside scenes and a view of the Seven Sisters ( a range of cliffs). It cost me a small fortune to get them printed and I think they are currently stored under our bed!
I sold my first photo today!

that was taken with the help of my neice who was visiting there in her capacity as east riding dog warden.she was chipping some of the staff:lol:
laura....i have a calender with a lot of prints of his photos and whitby near me .....the shops are full of his prints i cant beleive the clarity and compositition of some of the photos of his that were taken with a camera that was no more than a wooden nest box on a tripod

Thanks Kenny, I am certainly no 'Sutcliffe', but I enjoy what I do and sold my 1st photo this week! :-P
I have also spent some money today on a 2x teleconverter, that should give a boost to my 70 - 300mm! I will now have to start using my tripod.
kenny
02-19-2006, 12:38 AM
hi laura
i have a 2x teleconverter for my 28-200 apart from needing a tripod it tends to make the lens rather dark at the longer distances the pictures come out ok but its like looking down the barrel of a gun, unless of course you have a mirror lens
