Great looking bird,
are there any hens or is that the only one Roger has?

Hi Chris, he has 2 hens but they are not as attractive. They are very much like a hen weaver.

Hi all
whilst I have these lovely birds I don't know much about their nest building habits, can anyone advise me on what I should provide next year for nest building?
Sorry I have not been around for a while, but as you know the NHS waiting list is very long these days, and they have only just removed laura's hands off of the PC

Hi Roger,
i have no experience with these birds whatsoever, but i would hazzard a guess that providing cocnut fibre, hay, and various live grasses (such as elephant grass, pampass grass, miscanthus grasses etc.) should provide the necessary materials.
here's a link i've found, might be of some use, if not it's interesting reading:

G'day Roger,
I'm glad to see you back online matey,;) I hope Laura receives a new pair of hands soon,:D or else you will need to post the next quiz all by yourself mate (you two can put together a bitch of a quiz can't ya).
Regarding the nesting requirements of the Whydahs, I reckon you will need to follow the actions of Laura with her Weavers, and the advice of Chris of course.
But along with the advice provided so far, I will mention the importance of the greater supply of Livefood for breeding these Birds.
Good luck mate.
Paul.:D
