Hello all,

I will be collecting a new pair of Birds tomorrow, an 05 bred pair of Red Crested Finches!!!:D

I have been looking to buy a hen to pair up with the single cock I have ever since last year, luckily a good friend from Surrey has bred four youngsters from his Red Crests this year and he is extremely lucky to have bred two cocks and two hens and this year is his first in breeding these Birds too.

He did want £70pr ouch:shock:, typical ex Bird Dealer:lol:, but we came to an agreement of a pair of Madagascar Mannikins and a pair of Jacarini Finches as an exchange, although he will have to wait until the Spring next year for me to exchange Birds to give him unrelated Birds in both pairs.

Because I have an adult cock Red Crest, I will pair him to the 05 hen to give me an unrelated pair for next year, I feel another breeding programme coming on here people.

Please form a queue in waiting for your Red Crested Finches.

The added bonus is that there will be another breeder of Jacarini Finches and Madagascan Mannikins to add to the intended programmes with these Species in the form of my friend Bill Painter.

Paul.

Bad news,

Bill caught up the Red Crests today and found that he had one pair and two cocks, not the two pairs he thought he had, DOH.

So I will be waiting even longer now for a hen to pair to my cock Bird.

Hi Chris and Ken,

I should hope I will be at the top of Bill's list in providing at least a hen Red Crest, as the deal was set on a swap for a pair of Jacarini Finches and a pair of Madagascan Mannikins!!

As for finding another pair, I thought I had it made when I was told I had an 05 captive bred pair coming my way, this may sound silly but I have tried imported hens with no luck, but the captive bred Birds have to come from somewhere.

I do have a plan up my sleeve though that should quarantee me an E.B. hen Red Crested Finch early next year.

Later, Paul.
