hello all
i went down to Markham pets today, to sell my young budgies, i got a chocolate silverbill an all, i hope its a hen.
i almost got a weaver an all, caught it up and everything, he said it came from a breeder along with bengalese and a magpie mannikin, i was very tempted at one point as it could have been a hen, then i though someone might be interested in it, but i changed my mind at the last minute.
i got a bargain or 2 anyway, i got a big sack of beech wood chippings, budgie nest box, and a chocolate silver bill!! i he was going to let me have two, but after watching the other was definately a cocks, and i have 2 already.

matthew,
go back and get the weaver:grin:   PLEASE......
only joking, if it was me though i would have had it right away. do you know the species, and the price tag?
i now have the money to join WFS, and will be printing off the form tonight, and getting my mom to write out a check (i'll just give her the £10, makes it easier!)
Chris:wink:

hello Chris,
it wouldn't have cost me anything, thats why i was so tempted, i think it was either a red or orange bishop, if anyone wants it i could go and get her/him,
like i said the bird was with a load of bengales and a mgpie mannikin, so whether it was wild caught or CB i have no idea
i wish i had the notes from Tom Brodderrick then i could tell you exactly what it.

Hi matthew,
you turned down a freebie!!:-| i can see why you were so tempted to have it now. maybe we can get you to try out a few weavers yet:grin: , sod's law, if you pass up the chance you'll probably come by a few more soon and regret it, then if you don't pass it up the opposite will happen and you wont find any:?

i know your right Chris, but i'm not geared up for weavers, i'm geared for for smaller finches and waxbills,
if i introduced a pair/groups of weavers into one of the avairies it would only be asking for trouble.
its just a shame the bird will probabily fall into poor hands, its a fit bugger i'll give it that, i could catch the thing with my hands, and then i decided not to both.
Chris i forgot to congratulate you for joining us, theres only Paul to follow now before the weaver groups can get moving properly.

G'day Matthew,
Good on you for not impulse buying (or not if it was free:roll: ), anyway hint taken on the fact I'm the one holding things up with the Weaver groups mate. For anyone who knows me they will tell you it is very unusual for me to be the one to hold anything up.
I will send off my application very soon, honest Guv.

Hello Paul,
very soon?? today mate, today :) its only £10, if i can afford it you can. No pressure though,
that chocolate silverbill turned out to be a cock  so now i have three love cocks and no hens what so ever, they are very friendly birds though. i don't know what to do now, i need a hen.
Matthew
ha ha ha ha, what happened to your sexing techniques matt, hey.

theories Gary, theories i think it works if you have a definate cock and a definate hen
truth me be told i caught it up as it look a stunner, i knew it was to good to be true, but i've got three perfect males, sorted out a female and i'll sell or swop the other 2.
