hello Chris, Paul and Laura
i have spoken to John today,
and he has confirmed that you 3 are now all official members of the society, you are all now co-oridinators for the species that you have volunteered for.
your names and contact numbers will be printed in the magazine, and put in the co-ordinater page on our website.
John has e-mailed all three of you to confirm it, so you should recieve the e-mail soon.
the stage in our plan now can be undertaken, the publicity.
so Chris, Laura and Paul, tweak up that article abit send it to our editor, and cage & aviary birds etc.
if i can find all your e-mail addies i will send you, the basic co-ordinated breeding scheme forms.

Hi Matthew,
great stuff! i'll copy and paste the article/letter i wrote up previously here. Laura & Paul, if you would like to go over it with any suggestions/ improvements:-) . i think it would be best if we all wrote a bit, post it here and then bring it together into the one article. Or we can do this Via e-mail to keep it private?
anyway, letter (as it is now anyway):

Proposed Weaver and Whydah Society
this is not so much a society in a sense, but rather a new branch to an existing Society, the WFS (Waxbill Finch Society). It is known that many Whydah species are parasitic on certain waxbill species, for this reason the WFS has always had the intention to cover Whydah species at some point, and Weavers as they are the same family of birds. In aviculture hardly anyone successfully breeds these 2 types of birds due to the difficulty involved and the reliance on imports, however with the Avian Influenza scare and a possible iminent import ban many of these species will be lost to aviculture for good unless we act fast and act now.
Over the past few weeks, a handfull of us with an interest in Weaver and Whydah species and who are connected to the WFS have been contemplating the idea of a new branch of the WFS to deal with Weavers and Whydah and to start a breeding program for the species we can to ensure there survival in the hobby. There is still much to be discussed within the formation of this new branch and were not intending to go public for at least few days or weeks at most. However due to recent news on the proposed Import ban we think it is important to put this idea forward to the members of various forums while there is still time to buy breeding stock of the various Whydah and Weaver species, as a ban would almost certainly see them disappear overnight.
Those of you who keep weavers and whydahs, or have the odd cock or hen in your aviary, now is possibly our last chance to pair up such birds and launch a breeding program that will see these birds around in the hobby for generations to come. If we miss this opportunity very few, if any weavers and whydahs will be present for future generations.
anyone who keeps Weavers and Whydahs and wishes to be involved in the new society and/or breeding programs, please get in touch with any of the following people:
Matthew Guest
Laura Bryant
Paul Hearn
Chris Dunn
this letter is breif as we were unprepared to go public as of yet, so please forgive us for missing out any information and details about the new society/branch

Hi Chris, no email yet.
Matthew did tell me a while ago that John is in his 'later years', therefore he tends to be a little bit slower than the rest of us. ;-)
