Hi mate,

It's great to see you are back on form, it's funny that the tests were mixed up though, you are far from sane Ken.

But we wouldn't want you any other way, Paul.

Hi Ken,

Whats the problem with the Java's mate, why and how many of them do you have to handrear?

Paul.

hi paul/pyxel

sorry but the last post was a bit misleading, but when i came home my wife had been looking after the birds for me and as i said i came home to 1 fawn java chick and out of another nest there was 3 split white mormal pieds just flighted.but the day before i came home she had found on the floor a fawn zebra which had obviously been a runt and been a casualty of ,the old i am now building a new nest and you can get out syndrome from its parents .it had fallen a long way i would say about 2 mtrs and it had been pecked as a good portion of the top half of the beak was missing and apparently was bleeding and my wife had been hand feeding it without my knowledge up until yesterday when i felt well enough to go and inspect the troops she had picked it up of the floor and it started wriggling as it was stone cold she thought it was dead but she is an animal lover like me and she used to do this kind of thing for her dad who used to breed canaries,so the first i heard of it was yesterday she took a photo of it when she first found it and going buy that it has made great progress, but and its a big but it only has 3/4s of its top mandible and its an ugly looking bugger she has been feeding it for 3 weeks on sunday but it is as fat as butter and i have to get it to start eating i intend to try and file down its mandible for a start(pics to follow) but its just learning to fly and it cant fly far as the hand feeding has just made it obese i have done this before but not with a bird that looks as if it has been hit in the face with a bat,so any ideas you lot as to how i can get it to eat seed ,it is already licking at the eggfood mix that it has been fed with and i am supplementing this with all the kinds of seed it would eat with some pym and grit ground up in an old coffee grinder any ideas would be much appreciated as it is going to struggle to crack seed as last night i tried it with sprouted seed and it had a job keeping it in its beak, maybe its not ready yet as i do not know how old it is really

soryy for droning on but i am forum starved!
