Hi all,

Does anyone know what is actually goin to be there on Sunday as I have had mixed reports as to Parrots and Poultry ?
Is there usually loads of trade stands similar to other large shows, as I need a few bits and pieces to get the birdroom stocked ready for the arrival of my breeding stock?

Nigel

jimmy

Hi Nigel,

Havn't been before myself, but i'm told there are all types of birds except birds of prey & loads of stalls selling bits & bobs, just about everything.

hello Nigel

in my opinion Staffords is one of the biggest and best ales day in the country.

to my knowledge pigeons, poultry and birds of prey will not be allowed.

there is hundreds of traders that sell everything you could possibily want for your birdroom, and there is even more breeders tables there selling just about every bird in aviculture
as well as clubs and societies.

Jimmy

no i will be wearing my blue bodywarmer, or may be if i am feeling a little bit dangerous a grey one, blue is the lightest colour that i wear, as i tend to wear morbid cloths.

Pink!!! just saying that colour makes me sick, I'll see you at Stafford then Jimmy:-x what will you look like then, as i need to tell the local heavy mob!!

matthew:)

Hi everyone,

To those of you who couldn't be there today, I'm very sorry to say you did miss out on a great event, but there is some very good news for members here regarding today, I will PM anyone interested with the news.:D

I must say I was pleased to see the number, variety and quality of Birds on offer today, an excellent turn out!
The attendence was also great, I was very lucky to meet with both familiar and new faces from various Bird Forums, a few friends from various Bird Clubs both here in Dorset and Surrey and a few friends from the hobby in general.
But I was most pleased to meet with a very old friend from the days of my World Show coach trips, I haven't been on these trips for over ten years, so how pleased was I to see Jimmy 'The Mad Welshman' Jones after all these years buying a pair of Java Sparrows from Steve Nesbitt on the JSSUK stand?

Of course from the familiar faces I met again, Steve Nesbitt to buy a good quality Silver Java Sparrow hen, two Timor Sparrow cocks from Steves friend Bryan Roberts one of which is for myself, the other has gone home with a new face for me, Stan'Kello/Bonio' Watt (great to meet you in person mate;) ).
I met with a few of the FF3 Gang, Laus, I bought two Tri-Coloured Nuns from his friend whose name I can't remember,DOH, Lee (Bone), John (Softbillman), Denis Teece and a few new faces, Val (Riley), Builditbob, Chipbuttie etc, etc.

The new Birds I have here for breeding with next year are far from what the AR would have you believe, they are fit and healthy, feeding, drinking and bathing as any healthy Birds do.

I hope very much that those of you who couldn't make it today will be able to arrange things better for the Spring Stafford Sales day, I will see you there.

Paul.;)

Hi all,

just arrived back fron Stafford, got there yesterday at 2.00pm, in the pub to watch the footie, back to hotel for a quick shower, then down the road for a nice Ruby Murrey, after that in chicago's for a spot of boogying

Got to the sale about 11.00am (with a blinding hangover), i pre-ordered 2 tickets and left them in the hotel, so had to que up for about an hour.

Bumped in Matthew, felt sorry for him stuck upstairs away from it all, it was nice to meet you Matthew.

I've got to say a massive thank you to Robb (from cnai & bbia) and his good lady, i was nervous about getting the right birds and Robb came round with me and gave me a few pointers.

Once again robb, many thanks mate

So what did i buy,

2 goldfinch cocks £52.50 ea
1 Greenfinch Hen £15.00
3 clear hen Canaries (just ordinary canaries) £10.00 ea
A dimmer/timer switch £105.00
Some seed £1.75 KG
A fantastic carrying box £15.00
A pork roll from the hog roast van £2.50

All in all an enjoyable weekend, whilst in the que to get in, the bloke next to me turned out to be the binman who collected bins at the hotel i stayed in, so i got a brief history of Stafford hotels and how many bins each one has per week, very interesting :?

I,ll have one of those pm's please Paul.

hello all

i too really enjoyed myself, i've been going for years but enjoyed this year's the most, i was in there at 9:15. i was on the Waxbill finch society's stand most of the day, but i still enjoyed it, i finally put a face to Paul and Jimmy and one or two others.
i bought a grand pair of 05 chocolate silverbills for £14. And came home with the male violet ear.

Amongst other things my head was spinning i was talking to so many people.

Matthew

Waxbillman

i forgot to also mention

i saw not a single AR there luckily for them.

the 2 bird per cage rule was a laugh, all the breeders had 2 birds per cage where as the traders had the usual amount - are they exempt.

there were one or 2 rarities there, quickly snapped up.

Hi all,

I'm afraid I didn't manage to make it yesterday, was out on the cider on saturday and didn't get up in time and felt pretty ropey. I will have to arrange my social calender a little better next time. There is a sale/show in Dec for the Colour Canary Breeders Assoc which is part of the poultry show for some reason so will have to make sure I can go to that to pick up some info anf bits and bobs.
A PM for me paul please

Hello all,

I wish I had taken today off of work because I'm still wiped out from yesterday, 32 years old and the stamina of a 96 year old with a dead Goat strapped to my back.

Matthew, I'm sorry I didn't see you before I left to make an insulting offer on the lovely Violet Eared Waxbill.

Dave, I don't have the Chocolate Silverbill you wanted, the Bird was taken to the event for you all the way from Wales, for it to then go back to Wales. The owner of the Bird was unhappy about this, as I was too, I had sent you PM's from here and FF3, why didn't I receive a reply??

Laura, I agree it was sad that so many of us went to the Show, and some of us didn't meet up, but I have this problem sorted for the Spring Show the meeting point for the next Stafford Sale is THE BAR at 12pm and Laura's buying!! Very tasteful Jesters hats with flashing lights and our names on will be made available by post prior to the event for the bargain price of £14.99 including postage!

The PM's will be sent to all of you who have requested one (sorry Pyxel, no Kronenbourg mate), it isn't huge news, but I think you will all agree it is great news for the Website and Forum, of course Laura for running the show and keeping the Family in order, Carl for giving Laura the best present ever on her 30th Birthday:lol: and for all of us grateful members!

Nigel, shame on you for your terrible excuse for not turning up at Stafford.:D

though i would be stupid to really, a fellow member may sell me a hen at a good price so who knows. i have seen them £60 each, now surely he was a bargain, captive bred too!!, your loss mate.

yep we will definately all meet at Stafford in March if we have been killed first by bird flu as the anti's would say. though i was very dissappointed, they dint have any John Smiths!!!

Hi Jimmy,

The escapee Birds are caught by using catapults, airguns and poisonous gass.

On a seriuos note, the Birds will be caught by the next day when they will come down to feed and drink, by this time when the halls are almost empty the Birds will feel confident enough to do so.
