Chris

I am really sorry a halt has been called to your weaver breeding :( If you would consider breeding Orange Bishops and if we could sort transportation out, I would let you have some of my captive bred birds.

Hi Laura,

thanks for the offer, but the problem is i aren't allowed anything new at all (although i think i have negotiated a new CPQ cock for unrelated blood)

i've far from giving up on new weavers, i've been in touch with D holmes from Australia as i plan to emmigrate in around 7 years time. i've been told that in Australia masked weavers and african golden weavers are not available, and that there is a chance that i could possibly import them if i get a veterinary qualification. because of this i have every intention of getting more masked weavers and starting to breed well before i emmigrate. however this bird flu idea of my dad's has sorta buggered that plan up a bit:-|

the good news is all is not lost, the golden bishops are finally showing signs of breeding behaviour so one way or another i will have more weavers.

i have given up on stafford though, there's no way i'll be going, firstly i doubt i'd change my dad's mind, and secondly he has conveiniently got a beer festival the day before so will hardly be in a state to take me (i wonder if that's part of the plan... na! lol)

the thing that has upset me is that if i don't get these weaver's now, i may never get any as i reckon it's only a matter of time before an import ban, and i don't know of anyone who breeds them. it really is now or never in my eyes, either i get them weavers now starty breeding them and am in with a remote chance of exporting them to autralia with myself.... or i don't get the weavers and will never be able to keep them again in my life

one way to ruin my 18th, as the pekin robins, weavers and stafford show were to be the present

thanks for your offer,

Chris:wink:

hi laura

just seen a programme about a pigeon show at the winter gardens at blackpool how come they are not banned like cage and aviary shows in england and they are kept in a lot smaller cage than most foreign birds and they had to leave them in the car overnight

hello Chris,

if there was any chance of you getting birds from a breeder, then i would certainly get a pair of two of those weavers and save them for you, and you could just say that the were aviary bred by me, but i suppose, it wouldn't be possible.

Hello Chris,

Although I am gutted that you intend on emigrating to Australia in a few years time, you will be missed here a great deal mate!

As well as Matthew I am very happy to hold certain Birds of your personal collection for you, please PM me with the list of Bird Species you would like me to hold for you until the day you wish to make your move.

Hi Chris,

I have been in contact with David Holmes on another subject that brought about the subject of Bird imports into Australia, David stated that Birds couldn't be brought into Australia full stop!

If your status of a Veterinary Surgeon changes this, it should be made public news!

Also my offer still stands for holding certain Birds of your own personal collection if this is at all possible.

Hi Paul,

when i was in contact with david, he mentioned a possibility of an ship[ment to Australia through the cocos island quarantine facility. apparently a few budgies, parrots and other birds were bought in through this a few years ago.

if i get the veterinary qualification, it might just give me the brownie points that i need with the australian government to get a few in, but it's still a long shot and unlikely to succeed. what i do know however is that i would rather have the birds and fail in the future, than not have the birds and be told i could have taken them
