I have a baby Orange Cheek, I have a baby Orange Cheek!!

I am sure there is only one as I don't believe they could have reared two in the tiny nest they chose to use.

The parents are so proud, they couldn't wait to show off their little'un to me :-P

Good on ya Laura!

Just wait until the Orange Cheek fledges, they are gorgeous youngsters, feather perfect, drab versions of their Parents, so have you now changed your mind on selling at least one Species of the Waxbills you have?

Paul.

Hi Laura, well done, I think with the species you are having successes with were others are failing is simply due to your birds having the seclusion and being left alone, they are obviously very happy with your type of setup and management style.

Any chance of any new picks of ya setup? ;-)

I'll get my camera out soon

I do tend to leave the birds to get on with it, I feed them with live food twice a day and if I am lucky enough to be around during the day I just sit and watch them

Hi Laura,

Well done mate!!

I agree with Karl, you are obviously doing something that some of us aren't, or maybe it's the other way around? Whatever it is that you are doing, don't change it!

Hi Laura,

i'm sorry to hear that you've lost one of the chicks. look on the bright side, at least you still have one and know that you have a breeding pair of orange cheeks

It was very cold last night. Unfortunately I was not well last night and my mind was not on important things. I feel very guilty.

Needless to say, I have taken every precaution possible tonight and the covers are on the aviaries.

Closing the stable door comes to mind.

Hi Laura,

I really feel for you mate, this loss must have hit hard when everything seemed to be going so well.:-|

Please don't blame yourself, this breeding is a very late one, despite your best efforts this could not have been avoided, how were you to know the weather was to change in this way?

Paul.:-|
