Hi Dave,

silvers are a yellow when hatched, Pearls are very dark brown with yellow strips when hatched, normals are light brown and yellow stripes when hatched, and whites are blonde when hatched

by the sounds of it you have a silver and a pearl. if you can get photos of each chick i'm sure Paul and I can identify them for you

Well done Dave,

Congratulations mate, it doesn't matter how long you have kept Birds, you can't beat the sight of day old CPQ chicks running around as if someone has pressed their fast forward button.

I hope that you will have a lot more hatch soon, Paul.

hi paul /chris

they are great when first hatched all beak and feet you spend half the time loking for the wind up key on the side of their bodies

Hi Dave,

I'm sorry to hear of the two dead in shell and the one chick that drowned:sad:, well cleaned fine grade gravel in the water dish is a great method in preventing CPQ chick drownings, but ensuring the Birds can still drink from the water dish.
Another idea is to raise the water dish slightly allowing the Adult Birds to drink, but preventing the chicks from entering the water dish, a combination of both ideas would help even more.

But at least you have three chicks so far, please post your pics soon so Chris and I can hopefully identify the expected Mutations you have.

hi paul

i cover my water dish with a small square plastic mesh so the birds can still drink but the little uns cant drown as they just walk on the top of the mesh.a bit like stopping a child from drowning bud!

Hi Dave,

I can't identify the chicks from the photo size you have posted mate, would it be possible to post full size pics?

Dont look like they gonna go any bigger! so what do you think from what you can see?

Chick 1 = yellow-grey all over with some dark streaks.
Chick 2 = black with orange streaks
Chick 3 = All grey-yellow with yellow wings and breast.

Thanks
Dave H

Hi Dave,

from looking at them i'd say

Chick 1= Silver
Chick 2= Pearl
Chick 3= Silver
If you can blow up the size of the photos and then add them as an attachment (see manage attachments at the bottom of the post reply page) we should be able to give a better answer. the way you would appear to be doing it at the moment would be through the image button at the top of the reply page.

Hi Chris,

From the photos Dave has posted, I would say 1, Silver. 2, Blue or Blue Pearl and 3, ?
1 & 3 display different bill and feather colour, 3, may be a Silver Pearl or a Blue Silver Pearl?
