Hi people,

I returned a short while ago from visiting my two lovely God Children (I know, there are some silly people out there who will trust any idiot as a God Parent these days:), and then onto a great Bird Sale in Surrey, where I was very fortunate in buying four Indian Silverbills which were originaly priced at the very attractive price of £15pr:), but better still they were reduced to only £12pr:D, even better still, two of them are closed rung with 05 rings, so I may have Mummy, Daddy, as well as Junior 1 and 2!!!

Am I a happy Bunny or what????

Paul.

Hello all,

So far I haven't any photos of the new Indians, but when I take some of my fledged Madagascan chicks I will take some of the Indian Silverbills as well, Gary great news that yours are sitting mate, please keep us posted.;)
Dave, I do intend on establishing a colony, but first of all I need to get the Birds to lay eggs at least, the pair and odd cock I have, haven't laid a single egg for me, I suspect the hen is too old now:(.

I assume you will want to sell yours, please let me know how much for.;)

I also have another four Indians to collect from a mate next week, so hopefully I may actually breed some even if it is next year.

Paul.:D

dave they can only be sexed by the song, try seperating them as maybe only the dominate bird will sing etc, or they may not sing in front of you.

Hi Kenny and Dave,

Kenny you are one mad geezer:lol:, but I can offer a fool proof method of sexing ALL Birds, line them up on a perch and then run a lit match or lighter under the perch, any Birds that stay in place are hens, and the ones that jump are cocks.

Dave the only serious fool proof method I know of for sexing Indian Silverbills is to split ring the Birds with different coloured rings and make a note of the Birds that sing and display, I would be amazed if you are lucky enough to have three hens mate, but hey you may surprise me.

Are you thinking of selling your Birds? If so please let me know.

Paul.

hey paul,

I have them a couple of months and tried seperating them and stuff but none have sung.

So may have 3 hens - is the song same as africans?

if you can get me a chocolate african silverbill hen then we could swap :P it for an indian.

get back to me

Thanks
Dave H

Hi Dave,

do you know the exact age of the birds you have? coulld it be at all possible that you have juveniles which could possibly explain why they are not singing?

Chris;-)

Oi Gary,

Are you trying to muscle in on MY Silverbill deal with Dave?

Dave, I can get you three Chocolate Silverbills, but due to the recent hot weather all of them I've had in the past have melted into puddles on the aviary floor.. Sorry!!

Gary, if you can get hold of the Chocolate African Silverbill hen for Dave, then go ahead and strike up the deal mate, I have a few to work with next year and I have four more coming this week.

Dave, would you be interested in swapping all three Indians if Gary can find a hen and a pair of Chocolate Africans?

Paul.

Gary

Hi Gary,

I thought you had some Indian Silverbills, and maybe you would like some more:oops: , all I was saying is that I have quite a few Indians at the moment and if you wanted to do a swap with Dave then go ahead mate.

I know they are very hard to find these days, and I didn't wan't to be greedy by taking all of the Birds offered to me, and not let others have a chance to add more Birds to what they already have.

But if you aren't interested then, I would love to swap the Bird/s with Dave!

I wil send you a PM Gary, and beg forgiveness if I offended you with my previous post.

Paul.

hey paul/gary,

Im still after a definate chocolate hen for my cock bird -

i have 2 cock & 2 believed hens - normal africans.
1 chocolate cock african
& the 3 indians - well got them bout june i believe and was bout 8 weeks then - so bout 4 1/2 - 5 months old and none ive seen have sung a note - so could be all hens.

I would be interested in swapping the 3 for a pair of indians & choc african hen? as i would like to breed with them as was my intention of getting them but i bought them as 05 bred juveniles.

So any help or deals get back to me :P

Thanks
Dave H

Hi Dave,

Gary has told me via PM that he can find you a Chocolate African Silverbill hen in exchange for one of your Indian Silverbills, which he would like for himself.
Unfortunately Gary cannot make it to Stafford:-|, so this is what needs to be done, I need to obtain the hen Chocolate from Gary to bring to Stafford in exchange for one of your Indian Silverbills, which Gary will keep for himself.
I will also bring a cock Indian Silverbill to exchange for another of your hens, this should leave you with another pair of Chocolate African and a pair of Indian Silverbills and Gary and I will have a hen Indian Silverbill each from you.

Did that make any sense?

Paul.
