at what age do goldfinches get adult plumage so you can tell sexes apart.

do you have to rely solely on the honesty of breeders to get unrelated pairs.

Hi Axelrod,

I can't help with the question of how long it takes for Goldfinches to moult into adult plumage, but I will try to find out for you.

I'm afraid the answer is yes to your second question, you can only rely on the honesty of the breeder if you wish to buy unrelated pairs.

Hi mate,

i think the norm for most brits is about 6 months, but you will know for sure a year after purchase if you want to wait that long! unless you are trained in DNA sexing techniques then you will have to have a litle faith in the breeder. i wouldn't know if those sexing things always advertised in C&A work... i think Paul has had some experience with them??:?
