Hey all,

For anyone who is interested in zebra finches - join this forum as it has breeders from all over europe on it and some of the best at that!

So they will give you a better method of how to produce em.

Thanks

Hi Ken,

I am an Englishman living in Spain.
Breeding Zebra Finches is my Hobby.
It took my breath away when I saw the picture of the Orange Face Phaeo.
Yes I would like to know how it was bred taking in mind that locating serios breeders here in Spain is very difficult;

Hope to hear from you.

Regards

Gordon

I've just managed to breed two phaeo babies. They are still in the nest and they both appear cream (like mum) so I'm wondering how soon can you tell what sex they are?

hi diane
it should be around another 2 to 3 weeks before they are fully feathered enough to show what sex they will be it depends really how much feather they have on them now if its just down on them i would say the above is a near enough estimate

One phaeo baby has just come out - fully feathered and looks just like mum. So is this a female? Or will other colours appear later on?

Also, I have a pair of orange breasted - still sitting on eggs. If any of these hatch should I then cross them to the phaeo's so make orange breasted phaeos?

Thank you Kenny.

hi diane
if the beaks are still black it will be hard to tell the sex until some of the black grows out...regards the breeding you should get some oranges as long as they have not been bred with anything else down the line....also you will only get 50%oranges as the rest will take after the other parent
