hi all,
i have just been on a site for bengies and there is a young lad on there who is losing all his bengies by the same method and he cant find the answer,he says that all of his bengies have appeared to get a lump on their necks a bit like an over sized crop and after a while they die he has even taken one to the vets and they had no idea and has asked the vet for a post mortem but hasnt had the results back he is appealing for answers before he loses the lot i have not come across this myself but have any of you had this problem or anything like it i think he is desperate or he wouldnt be talking to a vet .the only thing i can think of is interbreeding apart from that i am lost any ideas

Hi one and all
The lumps that seem to be in question where are they on the birds and when do they appear??
I ask this as this in some breeds of canary can be a problem if the diet is not right during molting times and if the breeder has been repeatly double buffing the birds so that feather condition has become to soft and the lumps are feather lumps. I do not know if this is a problem that can appear in other breeds of birds .

Hi Kenny,
This is a long shot mate, but maybe it is connected to diet? If the seed, eggfood, greenfood etc is contaminated with something?? maybe this could cause an expansion of air in the crop, but the real reason for the Birds dying could be that they are digesting contaminated food??
Another theory could be that the Birds crops are oversized by over eating due to Intestinal Worms, the Birds may be feeding more than enough but any nutrients are taken by the Worms??

hi all
have solved this riddle at last its been driving me crazy for months,it turns out according to klaus immelman,it is through interbreeding ie breeding to close a bit like feather cysts in budgies hurray i say! who cares you lot say ha ha
