hi all,

was reading an article in an old mag while i was in my birdroom wating for the adults to finish their bath so i could take the water away(didnt want any babies to drown) this was from approx 2001.according to the foreign bird federation covering foreicn birds that had nested successfully in this country e.g. us bird breeders 818 species approx 1in 10of the worlds total are nesting successfully in the uk of a species span of 59 families of birds.it must be a heck of a lot more now.are we great or what.

hello Ken,

the thing is about them records is that, they are collated from breeders who bother to fill in their breeding returns for various different societies, so it probabily doesn't represent the real number of birds and species being bred in Britian, as a great many people don't bother or do not wish to fill in such records for various different reasons, though it does help in saying what has been bred, and the breeding returns are improving year after year.
