Hi Ken,

Thats not me, its guy who lives down the road from me, he's from Yorkshire and apparently he dresses up like this every year on 2nd August and runs up & down our street shouting
"ear all see all say nowt. eat all drink all pay nowt."

Is this a local custom ?

Jimmy :)

Hi Kenny
Are they picking on you again I wonder why??
Can you clear up a problem I have please tell what the H**l is Yorkshire day , is it to celebrate a great sea battle OH NO you have no sea do you . Is it to commerate a battle on land no you lot only fight over flowers (Roses) I know it must celebrate a special Yorkshire-man who once bought a round at the pub, No thats just a pipe dream.
Well yesterday was our Halifax /Dartmouth (Canada) Natal day ,thats like anti- natal day but you leave aunty home.
No it was to commerate a great sea battle between the English and some one else ,usually the french and as the french seem not to remember this date I expect we won. We all had the day off and parades and music etc and fireworks at night. How did Yorkshire celebrate there day then Kenny??
Allan:)

well said Kenny, may i also add yorkshire's, mighty steel industry, yes its mostly buggered off to china or where ever, but we still make the finest quality steel, what the hell is canada famous for, its beutiful scenery and wildlife yes indeed but thats it, cananda is like America only they are thinner, wear goofy hats, and can speak french. oh and cant you french yanks make up your own place names, i'm fed up of them being nicked.

Hi Kenny,

I know you feel the whole Forum is against you but I'm sorry I have to comment here.

Patrick Stewart excellent actor, I'm a great fan of his from his Star Trek The Next Generation days, but he obviously wasn't all that proud of his birthplace as he seems to have attended elocution lessons to learn how to speak English, and as if that wasn't good enough he pushed off to the US to make a life for himself.
But then again when he gave the command "make it so" I don't think it would have worked quite so well if he had been wearing a flat cap with a Pigeon on his shoulder, a Whippet at his side, a roll up in his mouth and a pint of Tetleys in his hand.

Nell Mcandrew, phooaarr what a top chick to look at, but when she opens her mouth to speak it goes flaccid again.

Sorry mate Paul.

 haha, the idea of captian picard ordering a tetleys from a replicator while smoking a roll up:grin: somehow doesn't give the same image as a cup of earl grey...... it would seem i aren't the only trekkie on here:grin:

anyway, i'll leave you lot too it

well course he dint play a yorkshire man in star trek, he was a french man in it so was hardly likely to order a tetley's. i'm glad to now that there are still a few trekkies about, i though me, my dad and my uncle were the last one left.

Patrick Stewart still owns a house in North yorkshire, he is also honourary vice chancellar (summmut like that) of huddersfield uni. so Paul he hasn't cut all his links to Yorkshire now has he?

Hi all,

I put my hands up to being a Trekkie but only when it comes to T.N.G.

Chris, I like your idea of Captain Jean Luc Hewlett Pickard ordering a Tetley's from the replicator while smoking a roll up, nice one mate.

Matthew, It seems that I've upset you by my remarks of Patrick Stewart playing a Yorkshireman in Star Trek T.N.G, when as you have pointed out he was in fact playing the part of a Frenchman.
But that still doesn't explain the fact he speaks with a well educated English accent without a hint of a Yorkshire accent or even a French accent in S.T.T.N.G.

You mentioned he is 'summut' like a Vice Chancellor of the Huddersfield University, and that reminds me of a road sign heading towards a very steep hill on my route to Shepton Mallett for the Bird Sale there, I'm sure it was put in place by a Yorkshireman as it reads 'Summit Ahead'.
Now you would have thought he would have found out exactly what was ahead before the sign was put in place.:D

Kenny and Matthew, You both seem to share a rather worrying fascination with Alan Titchmarsh, whats going on here lads?

Kenny again, Linda Barker? Sorry mate but she does tend to grate on us Southerners, again when she opens her mouth to speak, but then again when doesn't she speak.

Paul.
