Hi all,
Pictures below are of my avairy and one of my zebra finches, i hope to add to it when the wife lets me have more room. :-|
The shed is 6ft x 4ft and the flight is 4ft x 4ft, it has electric sockets and lights.
At the moment i have 2 canaries in the flight and a pair of exhibation zebras in a 4ft cage in side the shed. The zebras are at the moment sitting on 4 eggs, the 3rd was laid on sunday so i am assuming 14 days from then is D day.
what colour are these zebras called ?

Hi Ken,
I brought the shed and built the flight myself, cut a door in the side of the shed to access the flight and covered the roof in one lot of felt.
I looked on the net and as Gary says they are some nice ones about, delivery isn't a fortune either, i got the timber, felt and plywood for nothing off a job, so that was the cheapest way for me.

hi jimmy,
i am not knocking it mate but that is the first time i have seen a zebra finch nesting in a canary pan,i have seen them in alsorts of box shapes and wicker nests but that is a first for me i might even give it a try myself as they are a lot easier to clean than mine.

Hi Ken,
When i brought the zebras, the guy in the shop sold me a wooden nest box with a slot in it, they seemed reluctant to go in so i took the top off, the cock bird built a nest in it and the hen laid 1 egg, after a week i checked and it was clear.
After nothing happened for a couple of weeks i put the canary nest pan in as well, the cock bird took the material from the wooden box and built a nest in it, so i removed the wooden box.
They are now sitting on 4 eggs :) :)

hi jimmy as i said i am seriously going to give it a try i have got some old nestpans,as i said they are much easier to clean then wicker and wooden boxes as you said about them being reluctant a lot of finches dont like dark places budgies are ok as they are used to nesting like that and my javas prefer the same type but usually if the nest is too dark they will not enter something to do with the predator instinct from the wild i think

You'r spot on there Kenny.
I do agree that some people just want serious bird stuff, thats each to their own, but its nice to have a bit of fun along the way.
Probaly best to keep most of the funny stuff in the "off the wall" section though.
Nice forum this Kenny, well set out and well presented, nice people too.what do you think ?
Regards
Jimmy :)

hi jimmy ,
your right i forget sometimes to put the posts in the right place, that was one of the things i was told of about on cnai i will have to try to remember in future, and your right about this site a really nice bunch of people on here and a heck of a lot of dverse questions and answers on here wich is great.i know i keep saying this but i have kept birds for over 25 years but i have learnt stuff on here i didnt know and thats what its all about and no egos i had enough of that when i belonged to a bird club.
cheers jimmy
