hi gary/matt i finally managed to get a picture for you but you have probably forgot why i am putting it on here by now this is a plain head but both the parents are crested mutation i have another 2 like this both plainhead i did find 2 that where dead in shell so i bet they both had crests as that is the way my luck is at the moment even having to hand feed bengies!most unusual

hey kenny,
Are you saying both parent to this one are crested? if so that would be why your having dead-in-shell, as you only need 1 crest to get crest and 2 crests either produce very messy crests or non-viables e.g. dead-in-shell.
So repair them to plainheads and you should get crests ok :P
Thanks

hi dave
yeah i know what a dipstick! i am what i neant to say was they are both crest bred 1 with 1without what i was puzzled about dave was the colour as both the parents are very light in colour but all the young as you can see are that colour and i have been trying to get a picture of at least one of them for gary to tell me the name of the colour mutation as he has a chart and i was trying to work out how they came to be that colour, these are the parents an as you can see they are very light in comparison

hey kenny,
I see the parents are 1 fawn & white plain head x 1 fawn & white crested.
The chicks to me look grey, and even if they are pearl its recessive - so means both your pair are split for it, which may mean either they've both been bred from seperate pairs containing 1 of that colour or they are related.
Do you know the background to the parents?
Thanks
Dave H
