Waxbills, hard to breed, yes!

I have had no luck whatsoever this year!

Last year I had a pair of Gold breasts housed with Weavers and they bred no problem at all; this year I have Red Eared, Gold Breasted & Orange Cheeks house together and they don't want to know.

Also housed with them are Golden Song Sparrows, Hecks & Parson Finches, Jacarini's and Quail.

??????:-? :-?

hello Laura

its been a funny old year, some have had good breedings, other have done sod all.

yes, waxbills compared to other finches that are domesticated are hard to breed.
the trick is if you breed them in a certain situation with certain things, stick to it.
give them an aviary to themselves,
i did a stupid thing in selling breeding pairs, and just keeping 04 bred pairs as many are too young to breed well so i haven't done too much, my avadavats have done something though so thats very good.

I have put some low potted bushes in the aviary today as I have noticed the Orange Cheeks keep nest building on the floor, time will tell I guess!:???:
