Sorry peeps,
Still waiting for Chris to give me anything new, but here is what I can tell you at the moment.
Chris Newman who heads the FBH Federation of British Herpetologists, has been working for some Months now to form an Umbrella Group, FOCAS Federation Of Companion Animal Societies, that will act as a single Governing Body to help protect the interests of all Animal & Bird Keeping Hobbies.
The groups involved will include keepers & breeders of Reptiles & Amphibians, Cage & Aviary Birds, Pigeons, Poultry, Raptors (Birds of Prey), Waterfowl, Gamebirds, Wildfowl, Mammals (Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Mice, Gerbils, Rats, Hamsters, Hedgehogs etc), Cold Water Fish, Tropical Fish & Marine Fish.
Several meetings have taken place over the last few Months, groups that have attended various meetings include the following,
National Fancy Rat Society,
British Rabbit Council,
National Chinchila Society,
Parrot Society,
Federation of British Herpetologists,
Proffesional Koi Dealers Association,
National Hamster Council,
Hawk Board,
British Koi Keepers Society,
Aquatic Foundation,
National Ferret Welfare Society,
National Gerbil Society,
National Council of Aviculture.
Other groups that have attended past meetings include the RSPCA, Animal Aid etc.
I can only assume Chris Newman & other parties have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to reason with the two latter groups, & I hope they will not be included in any future meetings.
Personaly I have been in contact with various Pigeon & Raptor groups regarding the formation of FOCAS, with the expected mixed response, some possitive, others not so & some have simply not responded.
I still have various other Bird & Animal Hobby Websites & Forums to work my way through.
Anyone who knows me well will know that I am not a very strong character who would usually roll over with such setbacks.
BUT NOT ON THIS ONE!!
My Hobby of Bird keeping & breeding is my life, & I will fight to save it, anyone who views their Hobby half as strongly as I do, please contact me either via Feathered Friends or by direct e-mail at paul.hearn1@ntlworld.com
Cheers, Paul.

Hello all,
I hope to have more news regarding FOCAS in the next couple of weeks, sorry for the previous false start, but for reasons I cannot disclose, (because I don't know the full details  ) details of FOCAS are still being thrashed out by the newly formed Committee.
There is a meeting due with the FOCAS group & hopefully after this details will be made public.
Paul.
