i have a pair of grey singers in an aviary with mainly zebra finches. the greys attempted to build a nest three times, but were bullied out ,by the other birds. they have now biult a nest of sorts in a budlia bush, and have two eggs a third fell out. any advice? should i leave , feed live food, could i foster out eggs to a pair of zebras.

the simple and most logical answer to give them a chance of successful breeding would be to either remove the bullies, ie zebra finches or keep the singers in their own accomadation.

these birds are scarce now, so needs to be given the best possible chance of successfull breeding.

as they have settled down again give them seeding grasses and also livefood etc

but i would certainly remove the zebbies when/if this round fails

I agree with Matthew; Zebras are great with their own kind but if you want to try to breed, the harder to get hold of birds, you must seriously consider moving on the Zebras. :)

thought that would be the answer. have 50 zebra finches. so removing them very difficult. what space is needed to house them on there own. can i seal off an area in my aviary ?

i have never kept grey singers, so could tell you what exactly to house them in, i would go for a flight of at least a large cage

or just get a pair of canaries and foster under there;-)
