Hi all
just thought I would let you know that both my pairs of Orange Cheeks are nesting
I am pleased as I have never bred this species before.

Hi Laura,
In my experience Orange Cheeked Waxbills are far from difficult to breed (I may have been lucky though:) ), but this also depends a great deal on their housing and available food.
I know very well that you strive to research and provide the very best for all of your Birds, so it comes as no surprise to me to hear that your Orange Cheeks have gone to nest.
All I will add is, soaked Foreign Finch seed, Pannicum and Red Pannicum Millet sprays, Seeding Grasses and Fruit Flies.
Paul.

its is indeed a shame that more oranage cheeks aren't bred in Britain, there are sadly many reason why they don't.
