hi laura & all

thought you may like to know how they are doing

well the cock bird went through a heavy moult out of breeding plumes and then another one to get back into colour again

and now he looks stunning! and has begun weaving a little - so will watch this space

Thanks
Dave

we picked up an odd cock last week, same species as dave's. has started weaving a bit in the mesh where i push the grasses in but other than that nothing spectacular yet. we do have a few odd bishop hens, one of which is either the orange bishop or black winged bishop, wont know untill can get a direct size comparison between the hen and a cock of each species

we are looking for more pairs though too

i had a pair of red bishops ages ago and all they did was weave horse hair into the wire netting it took absolutetly ages to cut it off but thats all they did they never offered to make a nest they just wove onto the netting

here's our cock bird, not sure about the hens as they came with the lot we collected with matthew, although since they've now grown their tails i dont think they are the zanzibar red bishops as they seem around the same size as the cock in the photo... i wonder hmmm

well i'll be damned, the bishops have built 3 nests since going to uni and back home for the weekend. more to the point i've watched the southern red bishop cock displaying like a nutter on his nest to the female in the aviary, likewise the northern red bishop in the other aviary does the same but has 2 nests to his name

first ever nests from any of our bishops... i wonder will they or wont they...
