Ants!

I have been keeping an eye on a couple of ants nests in my garden and whilst catching grass hoppers this morning I noticed some flying ants crawling out of one of the nests.

I dashed in to get a pot, a net and a teaspoon and started to collect the ants, flying ants (although they were not flying) and ant eggs.

Well my Zosties and Pekins have just had a whale of a time! It was so funny to see them snatching up the ants and shoving them between their feathers and under their wings :lol: They devoured the flying ants then tucked into the eggs; the best thing was, it was all free!! ;-)

i have done the same for my quail...i put some sugar on a paving stone and waited till it got infested with the ants then i swept them up and seived out the sugar and just fed them to the quail who thought they were lovely
