Great Laura,

I hope you either repeat last years success with the Weavers, or better still breed more this year.

My fingers are crossed for you, I can only wish my cock Weavers will come into colour soon.:-|

Hi all,
Just a quick question - The yellow bishop cock bird I have is lookin a bit tatty, I assume that he is moulting or does the bright yellow cap on appear when breeding season starts ?

Nigel

Hi nigel,

the yellow cap appears when he has moulted into breeding plumage, the rest of the year he'll look the same as a hen bird

Hi Dave,

as many as you can get hold of! And if you have the space, another cock.

I thought I had 2 cocks in my aviary, but it would appear that a couple of my youngsters from last year are not hens as I first thought!

Hi Laura,

Patience?

Aren't patience those people who risk MRSA when they go into Hospital for a simple Op these days?

Paul.

PAUL HEARN

Hi Dave,

This patience thing may apply to you also, in my case anyway:roll:, so far all my weavers have done is just that, weave nest after nest. (And destroy my beloved Bamboo etc:mad: )

I can sell you a pair of Red/Orange Bishops, but then only if Laura doesn't want them.

As for the Grenadiers, I'm sorry to say again Laura has first choice.

Laura, what do you have to say mate, how many cock Weavers are you willing to let Dave buy?

Paul.

laurab

I have more cocks than I know what to do with! (now that is not a complaint you would normally hear from me), so if you need a cock Dave, I can help you out and it will be captive bred and parent reared.

hey paul,

How much do you ask for a pair?

Also why will i need lots of cock weavers if i only have 1 hen? wont they fight?

Thanks

Hi Dave, it is better to have several hens and at least a couple of cocks, as this hopefully will get them to compete for the hens and inspire them to breed.

Hi Matt

I would have loved to go. My parents are going to South Africa again next month, I am going to ask them to get as much info as possible on Weavers and Whydahs ;-)

Kenny, I have also done Bengies and Javas, but they are not boring really are they?

interesting, are they good at photos like you are?

i will try and get notes for you, he did mention ways of telling what species they are when in eclipse which can be very hard.
