hi kenny,

if you can feed it by syringe, get soem eggfood and readybreak, add water to form a watery paste (normally this takes a fair bit of water) then try and feed it some of that through the syringe, it's the mix i generally use if i need to top up feed or hand rear and never had problems with it either.

if it's feeding itself, and only taking livefood then try some waxworms and crickets along with the mealworms. depending on how it actually eats the mealworms it might be better to feed only white mealworms (if it swallows whole).

from reading BBIA i'd say less of the blame on your nephew but more on the cat. afterall had he left it it would be dead from the cat regardless

hi all
despite my best efforts the little sparrow died yesterday...i stayed up till 3 am with it and was up at six but its wings had started to drop and its tail was bobbing up and down ..i had to go and feed my canaries eggfood..and was gone about a half hour and it was dead when i came back....it was not for the lack of food i was getting alsorts down its through and it was taking most of what i was giving it on its own...but there was something missing..what! i have no idea..

hi laura
i think it was going light !because its keel was really prominent and it was eating really well for a wild bird in captivity as it where but it just didnt put on any weight
