Hi all,

Due to the cancellation of The National Exhibition of Cage and Aviary Birds a result of inteference from the Animal Rights movement, I would like to hear/read your opinions on an idea of an All Animal National Exhibition.

This would be aimed more toward Judged Shows for some sections of the various Animal hobbies, and simple non judged Exhibitions of others.
Traders from each section would be there to sell food and equipment, but not Livestock, National and Local Cubs, Societies etc would also be present to promote each hobby, as well as Zoos etc.

This is a topic already running on the Cage n Aviary Info Forum, proposed organisations for Judged Shows include, Cage and Aviary Birds, Fancy Pigeons, Fancy Mice, Rats, Guinea Pigs etc, Poultry, Cold water and Tropical Fish etc.

Exhibitions of other Animals would include Raptors/Birds of Prey, Waterfowl, Gamebirds, Reptiles, Amphibians, Inverts etc, other small Mammals, Pheasants, Moths and Butterflies, Bees etc.

Talks and displays of the various Animals aimed toward education of the various Species, World wide Conservation Programmes which would also include Zoos and private individuals etc.

What do you say?

Cheers Chris,

I know you have replied to this elsewhere and shown your backing and I thank you mate.:)

I'm trying to get the opinions from as many Forums as possible, although agrrement and encouragement is great, I hope to hear from people even if they see it as an impossible task providing they state reasons why.

I have received a reply from someone outside of the various Forums who shot the idea down in flames, even so he took the time to point out his reasons why, and one of them was that it is illegal to have Raptors in the same room as other Animals, there are of course a number of ways of including Raptors in the Exhibition.

But more importantly he pointed out the political friction between certain Animal keeping hobbies, again there is always a way around these problems especially when every hobby involved in my proposal are all under attack from the same force Animal Rights!
In an ideal World my proposal should end the friction between any individual groups involved in the hobby of Animal keeping, but as reality kicks in I do realise that some of the groups I had hoped to add to this event simply would not gain anything by taking part.:?
These include Vets, Zoos/Public Collections and possibly Rescue Centres, the sad fact is the hobby as a whole would benefit if the above were included.

But look at what is left in my original proposal, certainly not this year, maybe not next year, but I do think an event of this kind could work in the near future.
