hi all,

especially laura

i thought id let you know whats been happening - well after taking the 3 hens and 1 cock off livefood they all have moulted - even though is still moulting out of colour slowly all appears healthy.

i have lined myself up now with more birds to add to the group :D

in the form of 2 more cocks and 3 more hens - so brings me to 3 cocks and 6 hens

so hoping i will have a good season with them, will keep them heavily stocked with livefood as this seems to trigger them as well as they only feed this to the young.

will keep you posted ont he goings on

i shall split ring all the new birds, so i can identify them from your original ones

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

you might to well to take one of the cock birds out and run the 2 cocks to 3 hens each, that way reducing the 'drive' each hen recieves and reducing the chances of chicks being abandoned. although it should be possible to run the lot together it might be better to keep 2 groups in 2 separate aviaries, and the spare cock on it's own untill next year when you should have bred a few to pair up to him

Hi Dave

That is good news, but I have to agree with Chris.

You're right, the live food does put them into breeding mode
