crop swab

just thought this may be of interest to some of you

as part of microbiology we have to do a project i have chosen to take a swab of a parrot-like birds crop i will be taking these next sunday then be growing them on for a week from the monday then analysing my results on the following monday. the webiste for further information on a similar experiemnt conducted can be found on www.bioone.org (http://www.bioone.org) it was done on a green rumped parrotlette

i think its going to be hard to get such a swab:oops: but i can try if i cant do it on anay of my birds at home il use colleges parrot:lol:

taking the swab in the morning and will start it growing about 3pm monday lol

the swab i had was way to big so i took a smple from around the vent and also one of the mouth. to make this more interesting i also swabbed one at college 18 plates plated up juust have to wait a week now!:!:

the swabs were good my end i compared them to college lets just say i dont go near my birds when i go home now without having a shower i think its disgusting that they teach us how to look after animals when their students are 10X better to start with.:mad:
