Paul
I am very new to this site, and very new to threads on the internet. Having typed that, I have 10 mating pair of strawberry finches and 21 new young finches that are wiened. I have been trying to figure out what I was going to do with them, and now I have found your site and see that I might have an opportunity. I have strawberry finches that are of traditional colors and I have them in a white/gray color, with the males having the traditional red cheeks and red with spotted white breasts. Again, I am very new to this, so I am not quite sure what I am doing.
JK
P.S. Pictures available if needed.

hello JK
wecome to the site
wow, thats quite a few Strawberries, theres not very many over here.
i've never seen those colours you've described in the UK but i've seen them in America.
i personally prefer the wild colours, you can't beat them, and their song are un-beatable by most finches.

Hello JK,
A very warm welcome to you, I hope you enjoy the Forum.
Ten breeding pairs and twenty three young is an excellent achievement, well done to you!
I assume you are unaware of the current Asian export ban, so my advice to you is to contact as many keepers and breeders of Waxbills etc in Texas to establish the Strawberry Finches you have for future breeding.
The export ban is the result of the Avian Influenza outbreak in many Asian Countries and has been in place for at least a couple of years now, there is no promise of the ban being lifted in a years time, ten years from now or worst of all it may never be lifted!:-|
My advice to you is to keep the Normal/Wild type completely seperate from the Mutation stock you have, to ensure pure Normal Strawberries are available for the future.
I would love to see photos of your Normals and the Mutation Birds you have.

Paul and all,
the funny thing is that after I read the site and then input my thread, I then realized everyone was from the UK. Most of my finches are of the wild color , but I do have a few that are of the mutated,( your words lol) state. I will take pics and send them to the site. If nothing else I think that it is very cool I have others that share in the same enjoyment of strawberry finches, they are a very cool little bird. I could also send pictures of another unique bird that I have besides the cockatiels. I have racing homing pigeons, they are very cool. I am continually looking for people to sell my finches to, but I can not find a site here. Lol I was so excited to find someone else that was interested, and ,DOH, there in another country. Other than the great USA, y'all(Texas slang) have the next best country!
because of the brave we are free,
sincerely,
JK

Hi I am new here to feathered friends. Would like to know all about strawberries and how you raise them where you are located. I'm from Colorado in the USA (not bragging) I just can't find anywhere that talks about Strawberry Finches. Nice to meet you all hope to hear from anyone soon.

Hi, and a very warm welcome to Feathered-Friends.
I am Laura, the creator of Feathered-Friends, but not the 'builder' of the web site, that is all down to my son Carl, the Webmaster.
I have three brilliant moderators on this site, Chris, Waxbillman (Matthew) and my long term friend Paul Hearn, all of whom I am sure will be able to answer most if not all of your questions.
I would love to be able to help with your initial question, but although I have a pair of Strawberry Finches I have not yet managed to breed from them, so hopefully I may also learn something from this thread. ;-)
Hope to hear from you soon, maybe you can share some of your experiences, good or bad, with us. :)
