The Gouldians I bought at Stafford are currently housed in my lounge inside a double breeder.
One of them keeps on doing a funny little bounce up and down and makes a funny noise - I guess he is showing off to the hen.
Should I put a nestbox/basket in the cage?

hello Ken
yes thanks, i feel sad that i haven't contributed on here very much, but at the moment there just doesn't seem to be the stuff they used to be, that i used to reply, but i am most certainly still here, even if i feel somewhat disconnect to the small family group that feathered friends is

I know I'll never compete with the 'big boys' but I think for a site as small as this one the time of year is taking its toll.
I even bought some Gouldians to have the hope of something 'happening' during the winter - and to wind Matthew up

Hi Tom, they are in a double breeder.

Hi Laura,
I'm pleased that I was right in saying she was going to lay an egg (my head is hurting at the moment, so I guess that is due to it growing bigger:lol:), but I'm also sorry to hear that your first Gouldian egg wasn't laid in the nest.:-|
When I found that my Timor Sparrows weren't using the nest box I removed the perches so that the highest perch available was the dowel to the nest box entrance, after only a couple of days I noticed the birds were using the nest box and I replaced the perches.
If your Gouldian egg is intact then I suggest placing it in the nest box and remove the perches in the cage with the hope that the next egg laid will be in the nest box, if this happens then replace the other perches and hopefully the Gouldian hen will continue laying her eggs in the nest box.
All the best, Paul.
