Is it safe for me to put fig tree (brown turkey) branches or twigs in my budgies flight cage, for them to perch on and nibble.

I've run out of the usual apple tree twigs but I have a huge fig tree in the garden. I've used the branches in my foreign finch aviary without any mishaps - but budgies tend to gnaw and nibble more so I wondered if it was safe for them?

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you.
