Hi Kenny
here is a challenge for you - I can find very little info on the keeping and breeding of Cape Sparrows, so I wondered if you could help? :razz:

sorry i couldn`t help as it seems to be on the red list in africa and they obviously dont want any more taken out so they have restricted info on it

Ken,
If you read through certain sites, the species is in fact of least concern regarding it's status in the wild.
The fact that there is little information regarding the species in captivity would be due to the fact that there are very few birds of this species in captivity and even fewer that have been bred.
Laura,
You may well have the only breeding pair of these birds in the UK at the present moment, but there are breeders of this species on the Continent, and although difficult it isn't impossible to exchange stock with breeders over there.
I hope this can be made possible in the very near future?

you can say that again mate.they are are as rare as hens teeth,there is usually something about them somewhere but i went to all my usual places and there is nothing ,apart from the links i put up....oh my god i am failing in my job! that`ll teach me to write to c and a

so am i mate ,but i doubt very much if they will print it as it casts dipersions on their own staffs ability to find news that is staring them in the face .all it needs is a bit of looking ,maybe they are to busy drinking ambrosia from the cornucopia cup!
