Just read in this weeks' C & A a letter about using this - for killing red mite - and wondered if anyone has used it? I already use red mite powder, Johnsons anti-mite spray and Duramitex and Poultry-shield (Not all at once I hasten to add) but the puffer container sounded a good idea. It would spread itself over a wider area in the aviary and birdroom.

I know that diatomaceous earth can be bought in packets - but I've never seen the puffer contraption in the shops or on websites.

Anyone know where I can get some? I suppose I could always e-mail C & A and ask them to ask the chap who wrote the letter - but asking you knowledgeable folk might be quicker ;-)

Thank you.

hello Diane

i haven't seen that article before, if it the same stuff my friends has recently bought then, i think i will be right in saying that 'puffer container' could well be a contraption used in the horticulture industry used as either a fogging or a misting bench, i have no idea how much they cost but i would guess far more than the back garden birdkeeper is prepared to pay, i would imagine a good insecticide sprayer that have hand pump will have very much the same effect, apart from you would have to do it manually.
have you tried ardap spray as that stuff clings to the surfaces and last quite a while.

i have never used duramtic stuff i was told recently its a load of crap made up many years ago, but i cannot be the judge of that, i'm sure theres plenty who swear the the foul smelling stuff
