Hello all,
It's all going tits up regarding my remaining Red Crested Finch chick,:-( I thought this chick was strong enough to make it all the way.
But either a respitory infection or a blockage are causing problems for this chick, although this bird has survived by my side throughout this afternoon and evening I doubt it will survive until tomorrow?:-(
It has gone up and down in condition throughout the day, but I fully expect it to lose the battle during the night.:-(

hello Paul
what a shame, i really hope that the chicks makes it, despite how it looks.
i am sure you have given it the best possible chance, and that, sadly is all you can do.

Awwww...I'm late in saying this, but I'm sorry.
You did what you could...and that's all we can do. You guys here helped me understand that alot better.
Sorry to hear what happened. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Nikki,
We all know it is harder for us when the birds don't make after we intervene and try to save an obvious lost cause,:-| but we do it again and again in the hope that one day we will save one.
But from my experience in the past, the few success make up for the many failures.:D

Hello all,
I have some good news regarding my two pairs of Red Crested Finches, the pair that laid and incubated three clear eggs, went on to lay only one egg in their second round, but thankfully this single egg has hatched.
I just hope that this chick will be reared to maturity?
Paul.

Hi Ken,
Thanks mate, I think I have well and truly joined your club!!
But as you rightly pointed out before this is the first breeding season for both of these hens, so I hope for far better results next year.
The worst is yet to come though, but that is for another thread.:(
