Hi folks, that was the longest trip to the shops I have ever had time seems to have just vanished, saw a bright light and found myself back at my PC a few months later.

Been really busy with work, charity fund raising and of course breeding Red Factor Canaries. I think I have done ok for my first effort from the breeding pairs I have 7 in total including 2 pairs of fifes I have managed to rear 18 (14 red factors and 4 fifes) not a tpe from my diaomorphic pair. Lost a few after hatching mainly the fifies. Didn't realise it can take so much time up espially that I have to seperate and colour feed the Reds. I have had to seperate the pairs as I was running out of space in my bird room, which has been a little haven for me being able to escape the daily life of living with 3 women in the house ( no offence to female members ). Got a new shed on order which will enable me to spread my birds around a bit more, at least I will be able to put the fifes out in the flight.

I will get come picks of the young ones they look funny as they take on the colour food.

Cheers
Nigel

Hi Nigel and Ken,

Nigel,

It is great to hear that someone has had a good breeding season this year,;-) congratulations to you matey.:D
I hope you have some results from your Dimorphics next year.

Ken,

A very good mate of mine had an idea much the same as yours and knocked up a good number of pecking boards for his Fife Canaries, his birds have come on in leaps and bounds ever since.;-)

Paul.:D

Here we are
A selection of photos of this years young and hens that I have seperated into the indoor flight. Still a bit to go with the colour feeding but you can notice with the more advanced ones which are intensive and which are non intensive if you look closely. Just have to see how many hens and cocks, if I choose which ones I keep the chap I bought some of my stock from said he could sell them no problem as there has been a bit of a shortage. I notice the otherday in my local pet shop that the had a red factor for sale which is unusale but they wanted £30 for it, the same shop offer me £6 per bird when I asked a few weeks ago ( theiving b*******)

hi nigel
thats what pet shops are like, they pay you peanuts for your birds and then charge 3 times the amount when they come to sell them
