;) Hi everyone,
I have Canaries, Greensingers, Strawberry finches and a Black Mannikin. (The strawberries are in a seperate cage).
I'm interrested in the Yellow mantled whydah but I don't know what it sounds like , I'm hesitant to purchase one.

I have seen one for the first time today and I must decide tonight if I will get it, since in all the years I've been going to pet shops this is the first time ever that I see one, and the seller said they are rare here.

If you can tell me how it sounds or have a link that has a recording of one, then maybe I could make up my mind:???: . Would appreciate the help you could give me. I will be purchasing this bird tomorrow July 28th.
Thank you

Natalie from Canada

Hi Natalie, welcome to Feathered-Friends :p

My Husband Roger has the bird you are after and has written a small article about it, just in case you missed it here is a link http://feathered-friends.co.uk/news/?c=121&a=1069

I wouldn't say that the birds song is attractive as it is a rasping sound, but the good news is, it's not too loud :D

I have tried to find a link that has the birdsong on it, but I'm afraid I have failed:sad:

Let us know what you decide.

Laura

hi laura
you can actually buy the song of that particular bird from the national british museum archives.....but you cannot get it anywhere free as a lot of other african /or australian birds and british there are websites full of places where you can download the song of most birds
