Although it is the end of the season my Weaver is still in his mating colours and is showing no signs of stopping! My Jacarinis are rearing two youngsters and so are my Gold-Breasts...what a great way to end the season. :D

hi laura,
thats a great end to the season.
myself, i got one more african silverbill about a week ago and it is doing very well.
i seem to have done better with silverbills this season than anything else.
all the best for next season,, clint

Thanks Clint, good luck to you too
Unfortunately my Gold-Breasts did not hatch out one of their own, it turned out to be a Zebra Finch and was bigger than them! Unfortunately it didn't survive :(
Zebras are deffinately going to be moved on.

hi laura, i started with zebs,, they,re lovely little birds but they do tend to breed like wildfire .
i had to get rid of mine early in the season as they took over the aviery and took all the nest boxes,, but saying that i found they are an ideal bird for a beginner,,, very easy to feed and look after and you can get some right little characters,,, most enjoyable.
all the best, clint :D

Hi Clint
I can't agree with you more, they are a brilliant bird to start off with birdbreeding, I can remember my first and how pleased I was with them, but as you rightly say great for beginners but now is the time to move on.
