My birds are so bizarre. They are housed indoors, so maybe this is why, but each pair is on it's own breeding season timetable.
Strawberries
Pair A (1 clutch of 4 fledgies in February 06) has started nesting. The male went into eclipse in March after 1 clutch. I notice last week, new red feathers coming in...yesterday they were nest building.
Pair B (1 clutch of 5 fledgies in June 06) is going into eclipse. Male just got his colors in May.
Pair C (no clutches/eggs yet, as they are pretty young) cant tell if the male is finishing his breeding molt...or starting to go out of molt. Not sure about much with this pair, lol.
My goulds are on their own schedule as well.
Just glad to see pair A of the berries going back to the nest again...especially so soon this year. Seems the pairs are about 3 months apart in their breeding clocks, lol.
Chicks from pair B are about 10 weeks old or so. Starting their molts...and I'm anxious to be able to sex them...but it's still early. As males and females sing, I cant sex them the same way I do with the other birds, lol.
