well its taken 11 days from hatching and a few sleepless nights for me, but the first pekin chick fledged last night, yes you heard it, at night, the poor bugger spent all night on the floor, i was up today at 5.40 to make sure it was ok, to my relief it is ok, and being fed, its still a worry though as its not very big, i don't spose its able to fly very much

the young en is ok thanks the adults make excellent parents very attentive, i shall be writing up my notes and observations on these very soon.
The diet of the chick has changed through the stages.
throughout the first week the chicks were fed almost soley on crickets, as the chicks got older the parents started feeding waxworms, at about day 10, chopped cherries and grapes were also fed.
when the chick fledged the diet changed again, the parent lost interest in crickets, not feeding many at all, the largest part of the chick's diet is currently white-skinned mealworms and fruit, as well as a few waxworms and crickets, and also whatever is found in the aviary.
