Hello all,
It has become evident via other forums that the sad news regarding Dorset Birds is coming out and shocking various people.:(
The sad and true fact is that Dorset Birds has ceased trading birds as of Wednesday this week and the dry stock is quickly being snapped up on special offer.
The official advert from Alan and Vera expressing their appreciation of past custom will be published in the very next copy of Cage and Aviary Birds.
But as it seems normal lately the word of the internet gets out before the official word on paper.
The sad fact is that we have lost yet another valuable dealer in our hobby, but I am currently working on a more fitting tribute to Dorset Birds that should coincide with their officail notification of having to quit trading due to the pressures of the AR's exploitation of the Avian Flu Virus that has been in existance for many years without any threat to the Human Race.
Paul.

I would agree with Matthew that is bad news, i was up there earlier this year and very much enjoyed looking around at his finches. I was hopeing to make a return visit during the summer but sadly will not now be able to do so.
I do wish them all the best for the future in what ever they do.

Alan and Vera at Dorset birds were not just importers they were family to all that know them and still will be they are on the end of a phone line and will never let us down . both of them have helped Laura and myself out big time over the years we have known them :D and also many other bird keepers and breeders as Paul says it is a sad day. but what Laura and me have learnt from Alan and Vera will stand us in good stead and will help us in our future as bird keepers and breeders Alan and Vera will always be my bird keeping and the way I do things , I am blessed to have been part of ther life and them in mine

Hi Matthew and Roger,
Matthew,
I will certainly pass on your best wishes mate,;) sadly with the sale of the business this also includes Alan and Vera's private collection.
But the Pekin Robins are still there with their previous round of youngsters and a new clutch of eggs being incubated.
Roger,
Your words are very heart felt mate and I sympathise with them all.;)
I would like to propose a thread that coincides with the official ending of Dorset Birds where customers can express their appreciation of the service provided by Alan and Vera.
I realise many of us would like to express our gratitude to Alan and Vera on a personal level, but I think it would also be great if we could present them both with a printed thread from various members with a personal message from each of us also.
Paul.;)

Hi Matthew,
I was thinking along the lines of starting this off from when Alan and Vera make their own official statement in Cage and Aviary on this coming Thursday and include posts on FF and FF3 after that, what do you think mate?
I don't wish to take over, but I was hoping that we could all see Alan and Vera's printed explaination in Cage and Aviary before we jump the gun in offering our own messages of well wishes.
Paul.

Hi Ken,
If everyone here was to make a comment then I can't see this as a bad thing mate, but my only hope is that Alan and Vera are allowed to make their point before we do so.
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Would it be out of step to write a small paragraph to them as well? I know that I am WAY over here and have not done business with them...but I want to express how all that they have done will be greatly missed by those of you there as well as by birdkeepers everywhere. It is a shame when something like this happens, no matter if we know them or not. Our hobby is rapidly diminishing due to the AR sockheads as well as the bird flu paranoidistic morons out there.
I would keep it short and sweet and just let them know that hobbyists and breeders alike would like to wish them well and thank them for all they have contributed.
