Hello all,
I was intending on going to Stafford today, but I have had a problem with my car that I haven't been able to identify for the last fortnight.:-? And after a disastrous journey home from the Ash sale and arriving home after making several stops to let my engine cool down I wouldn't trust my car to get me to the local shop at the moment.:-(
I hope those of you who will be going have a good day and that you will give us a report on what the rest of us will be missing.
Paul.

Hi Paul
I know you weren't looking forward to the long drive but I also know how disappointed you will be at not being able to attend. Lets hope we get some good reports back. :)

you didn't miss much to be honest, it was only in the main hall, none upstairs or in the other rooms and tents. virtually no finches other than the regulars for sale. i still enjoyed my day, met plenty of friends, i saw Dave and his newly aquired birds. Needless to say people were leaving not longer after midday

hi all
very disappointed with the day overall,
but glad i got to see a few friends there and yes matt got the first look at me new birds! will post pictures as soon as i can.
Thanks
Dave
p.s - other than there not being many birds of interest the prices were astonisingly high! £60 for a cock goldfinch and £200 for a pair of pekin robins!

the man who was selling those robins were where i got mine from.
theres were very few interesting birds, pair of balck crowns looked decent,
birds sold well i made £200 selling the birds i took from my friend

Hi Laura, Dave and Matthew,
Laura,
No I wasn't looking forwd to the journey, but I was looking forward to meeting with the people who attended and to go to what may turn out to be the last sale day at this venue?:(
Dave and Matthew,
I'm pleased you both enjoyed your day there despite the expected low turn out,:-) Dave we should all be grateful that Pekins in the UK aren't commanding the equivalent of the $2500 price tag in Australia.
So did anyone else visit the show?
Paul.;-)

hi paul,
How come it may be the last sale at the current venue?
Also i must agree with you on thinking that as £200 is a dam site better than $2500.
Do you want me to see if i can get any from ireland? as i have a mate over there as he came to stafford today with me and has quite a few contacts over there.
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,
Don't take any notice of what I say mate, it's just my doom and gloom attitude, but as far as I can see the future of the larger Bird Sales/Shows that used to depend on the prices paid for stands by the dealers at these events will become a thing of the past.
If Bird Sales/Shows are to continue then they will depend on breeders paying for tables and the ticket price on the door from visitors, this will mean that the venue size will reduce, but not stop our hobby from continuing.
Also if you can provide contacts for breeders of certain birds kept and bred in Ireland then it would be best done via PM, many thanks Dave.
