Hi Ken/Clint

It looks like a Red-Headed Quelea to me.

hello Ken/Clint

i'll second what Laura said. it may have just lost its claws due to being exposed to freezing conditions etc.

hello Clint

glad you have rescue the bird, and that is the cock, hens don't have the red heads, as he is a weaver he will go through the eclipse moult and resemble the hen.
I don't know of any any about around me, only cocks. he should get building some nests soon

Hi Clint,

He does look like an old fella doesn't he, but I'm pleased from seeing photos of some of your other birds that he is in very good hands now.

If I hear of any hens available I will let you know, despite the loss of claws and the fact he is near to collecting his Bus Pass I'm sure a hen or two in his company will bring out the best in him.

Paul.
