The Zebra Finch is by far one of the most widely kept of the Finch species.
They are a very inquisitive, lively bird and breed, perhaps a little too freely! Like a lot of bird breeders I started off with a couple of pairs, and in no time had a large collection of them. They are a lovely species and do not require expensive foodstuffs and will tolerate the British climate well although, if kept in an outdoor aviary I would advise you to cover the flight with bubble wrap (or something similar) to eliminate all draughts. A draught is more likely to kill a bird, than the cold. |
